This blog has been created to share our story with SARDS, Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome. My beloved dog Shasta is an Alaskan Malamute/German Shepherd mix and she is only 5 1/2 yrs old. This blog discusses our journey from the time of her diagnoses and through the trial and tribulations of treatment. Don't worry...it has a happy ending so please read further.

Raw Food Diet
Dr. Karen Becker, DVM is an advocate of the raw food diet and she explains why in easy to understand details in these three videos...

Dr. Becker explains why raw food is easier for dogs to digest and it makes sense why dogs with low IgA levels or malabsorption do better on the raw food diet. Rather than asking your general vet about the raw food diet, because they will suggest Science Diet, Iams, and probably Royal Canin, go to your local dog food specialty store and ask them what they feed their dogs and why! The right dog food is THE KEY to pet health and although expensive, it will decrease your vet bills!
